My Style

A couple weeks ago I went to the mall with a friend of mine and I instantly loved a pair of shorts at Tilly's. However, as I went to try them on I realized they looked a little short. Which isn't odd. I wear short shorts on the daily in the summer. However, my birthday just passed and I thought "Is 23 too old to wear shorts this short?"

I mean I'm not about to get rid of any the shorts I own, but should I really be buying more? As it turns out I tried them on and felt a little fat. He didn't seem to think they were that short, nor did he think I looked fat and we're about the same age. So, I thought it must just be in my head and I bought them. However, I was pretty sure I was going to return them since I felt a little chubby.

Then as I tried them on more I realized they actually looked really good and it really was all in my head the chubbiness and the length. However, then American Eagle was having a clearance sale and they had shorts that were similar to the ones I just bought. Plus, they were half the price. So, I had to order them.

So, I just tried the two pairs of shorts on because the first pair that I bought from Tilly's I need to return soon if I decide not to keep them. Over all i think I like Tilly's pair better. However, they're more then twice the cost of the American Eagle ones. Plus, if I roll the American Eagle ones they're about the same and if I never wear them I can just return them because they have an amazing return policy. (Side Note: Really if you shop there and don't know about their return policy you should ask me, look it up, or call them because its seriously amazing)

American Eagle
The American Eagle ones are a little longer then I would like and a little tight on my hips. I'm beginning to think my hips are widening or something. I almost always wear a size 2. The Tilly's ones fit amazingly, but I don't think I want to spent $30 dollars on them. I almost never spend that much on pants. It's probably a lot less then all you guys spend, but being in college I make not a lot of money. So, I will probably end up returning them both even though I love the Tilly's shorts.

Anyways, this all came back up again because I ran into this article online on Literally Darling, "25 Items to Stop Wearing By 25." Although, some of these clothes I don't wear now it got me to thinking is there anything I wouldn't wear now that I would wear in high school and there isn't really. I do like my pants to rise a little higher now though. However, maybe by the time I'm 25 I should no longer be wearing some of these things. I definitely think my short shorts will be out by them.

Plus as I get older. There is a lot less time to wear casual clothes. You wear professional clothes on a daily basis and then you go home and most likely eat dinner and go to sleep. I would probably do that anyways. I guess I'll find out in a couple months.

Is there anything you guys think you should no longer wear? And what do you think of my shorts? too short for 23?

End of the Quarter Freak Out

As the end of the quarter nears, you realize how much homework is due the final week. And if you're me you also realize how much studying needs to be done for finals. None of it sounds fun and of course like my midterms all my final projects are the week after drill. No fun. Hopefully, this time I'll be able to study before or at least start my papers before they're due.

However, I'm already pretty sure I'm going out the Thursday night before drill. I haven't gone out with one of my friends in forever and that's the only day he can go out. The problems of being a parent. Anyways, back to the point of this post. I just found out I have three homework assignments due on March 11th (That's also my nephew's birthday. He'll be 6).

Once, I realized I had all these assignments due I totally freaked out. I've never had this happen. I don't even think I've ever had two papers due on the same day. For my public policy class it's a short paper only 5 pages, but she's a super strict teacher. The midterm was absolutely horrible. Then for my Ethnic Conflict class its most likely just a short assignment the rest of them have been and the paper is due on the 16th. Lastly, I have some weird curation project that I don't even totally understand. So, hopefully that goes well.

As you can see by my calendar, it turns out I only have two papers due on the 11th and not three. The third one is due the following day, but still its a pretty full week of assignments. But basically for the rest of the quarter I will be very busy with papers, studying, and work. I better get started. However, I'll probably end up waiting another week. That's called procrastination and what most people I know do it college. For being one of the best universities in the country you would think we would be smart enough to not procrastinate.

Sunday Wine

Me and the fake lake.
On Sunday, I was supposed to go wine tasting with my family. We did get wine with my aunt, but I wouldn't really call it a tasting. Plans totally failed and yea. I'm pretty sure my mom is considering it my birthday present even though we had a discussion about it not being, but whatever. Us actually going wine tasting is never really gonna happen. Anyways, done with my ungrateful rant.

I did have a lot of fun and I'm happy I went. It's just not really what I wanted. We just got glasses of wine and didn't really do a tasting. Anyways, we started the day with lunch across the street from my aunt's winery. Well, the one she's a member of. It was a really cute little spot called Cornerstone Sonoma. It has some art shops, a sculpture walk, and 3 little winery tastings. They had a fake little lake on the property. It was so pretty. We didn't try any wine, but we stopped at the Cafe there. Which was actually a full on restaurant and really good one at that. Everyone really liked there food.

I got a grass-fed hamburger. It was delicious. A salad came with it as well and the dressing was amazing. Basically I loved my meal and it was totally filling. My aunt got the duck salad and she loved it. I tried the duck and it was pretty good. For some reason I thought duck would last like lamb. No, it tastes nothing like it. I think it's because they're both kinda rare things for people to eat. My mom of course got a seafood pasta. She seemed to like it, but she didn't say much. It was a little soup like which made me really confused because it was pasta not soup.

Anyways, after that we went to my Gloria Ferrar and got a couple glasses of wine. I tried the Chardonnay they had on the menu. It tasted pretty good and well like Chardonnay. I don't know if I would switch to the expensive brand, but it wasn't bad. I'll have to go try my two buck chuck to compare them. I also tried the 2010 blanc de blanc. My aunt and uncle love it, but I thought it was ok. I like my Chardonnay better, but since she like it so much. I had to try it.

We didn't bring and meats of cheese since we just had lunch, but my aunt did bake some cupcakes for my very belated birthday. They were delicious. I wish she brought more so, I could bring more to school. I only have one left. They were so good. Anyways, that was my day at attempting to wine taste.

This picture of the three of us I think my mom loves she says it looks like we're standing in front of a painting. I think I look a little funny because the sun was really bright and I'm not super thrilled with my outfit because I left my belt at school and my cardigan probably should of been black. But it's not a horrible picture. I'm also really happy I got a chance to wear a dress. I thought it would be cute to be dressed up for wine tasting and this is what I brought before I knew that wasn't gonna happen.

Weekend Round up 3

So, I haven't posted one of these in a couple weeks. Maybe it hasn't been a couple weeks, but it definitely feels like its been forever. Anyways, this weekend was pretty fun. It was nothing crazy, but I really enjoyed it.

Friday I went home right after my internship, hung out for a little bit and then went out with some friends to Farrington's. They just got back from the Warriors game. So, they went out in their dress blue Charlies like a bunch of dorks. They got free drinks though. So, worked out for them.

Farrington's was super crowded that night and I was DD, but it was still a lot of fun. We played a game of pool, but it was little hard to get a table since, it was so crowded. There was also a variety of age ranges there. That night I found out that my friend on the right deployed with another friend of mine that I went to the school house with. He saw my snapchat and freaked out about it and texted me. It was pretty crazy, but it definitely shows you how small the Marine Corps is.

Saturday I guess I did quite a bit considering I spent the whole afternoon working at Old Navy. In the morning I went to breakfast with some friends. I had my first mimosa ever. Only like a year late. I was supposed to go last year the morning after NYE, but that never happened. We did have Belgian waffles that day. Anyways, the mimosa was pretty good. My friend was super excited to show us 1800 Cafe, but it was nothing special. The mimosa was pretty good, but definitely not worth how much we paid. No wonder people always go for the bottomless ones. I would definitely have gone for that if I did have to work later.

Work was actually pretty fun. I saw everyone I love at Old Navy. They all just happened to be working. It was kinda crazy and amazing. I miss them. They definitely made my 8 hour shift worth it. I was super tired by the end of my shift, but it was really nice to see them all.

That night I decided not to go to the city with the guys. I didn't really have clothes to wear and I just wasn't feeling it for some reason. So, I went to Walnut Creek at got drinks with one of my other friends. I totally forgot to take a picture though. I just showed him around Walnut Creek since he's never been. We started at Stadium Pub. It's a pretty chill bar, hella people just go and hang out. It's nothing like special, but a lot of people are there and it's a really chill atmosphere. I always see people taking shots which, is fun.

After that we went to a bar I've never been to, 1515 Restaurant & Lounge. We kept seeing people go in, but the bar wasn't getting any fuller. So, we were super confused. So, we explored inside and realized everyone was going upstairs. Although, upstairs was people more around our age they, weren't really doing anything different then the people downstairs. it would be a pretty chill place to dance if people danced. There's enough space and everything. Downstairs was an older crowd, but it was easier to get a drink and to talk.

I started talking to someone next to me to see what upstairs was like, if it gets any more fun. She said it didn't really, we both didn't understand why. This is important because she recognized me and asked me if I played CYO basketball when i was little. It turned out we played basketball together for years when we were little. It was so crazy. I don't really remember what she was like when we were little, but it was so nice to see her again. I think it would be fun to hang out with her and she suggested we exchange numbers to maybe do it sometime. Maybe we will, but its always hard to start hanging out with someone new and I'm super awkward.

Side note: I parallel parked amazing well that night. I was so excited about it. I thought I was going to hit the curb, but it turned out I was like perfectly next to it. It was a miracle. I'm usually horrible at parallel parking.

I do provide links to the places I go, but I get nothing from it and my opinions of them are all my own.

Technological Age

Yesterday, I talked to one of my classmates and he told me that whenever he's in line he's tries to not pull out his phone. Today when I got on the bus, I originally did this unintentionally. As I looked around the bus I realized almost everyone was on their phone in some type of way. Whether they were doing homework, listening to music, texting or playing games.

Before cellphones being on busses and waiting in lines I feel like was a key moment for people to meet and talk to a random stranger everyday. However, with our society today, we're all too busy engrossed in our own lives and trying to avoid others. We are all insanely attached to our phones. However, whenever you lose it or can't use it for a couple of days it is actually refreshing. However, because of the dependency our society has on these technologies we could never voluntarily get rid of these items without hindering the life we choose to have.

I use my computer, my iPad, and my phone on a daily basis. The only time I don't use the first two is if I'm busy outside of my house all day or if I happen to forget them somewhere. Basically my apple products are my life. This idea of taking yourself away from technology for a little bit during the day is often brought up. And not just to me because I'm obsessed with my technology as K would say, but because in today's day and age most people are.

Apple Life. iPhone took photo
Some of you may or may not know that today is Ash Wednesday. Which if you're Catholic means its that time of the year again to give up something you love. Or if you're me, you think you can live without. So, this year, I've decided to try to live without my cellphone during those awkward moments when you don't want to talk to someone. So, on the bus, waiting in line, waiting for a friend, walking (haha), the list goes on and go.

Side Note: i totally think the walking one is hilarious right now. Not just because I do it on the regular, but also because I saw a couple walking together and the two were seriously just staring at their phones. Isn't the idea that you're hanging out with one another because you enjoy one another's company. Basically, we surround ourselves with the use of our phones even when it is not necessary, when the person you are with you should be completely comfortable with.

My mom will love this because I currently am on my phone 50% of the time we go to lunch or dinner or anywhere really. I always give her the excuse that she's my mom and it's different. However, it still is just as rude even if they are your parent... I don't like to admit it either, but its true.

A Day of Fails

Monday February 16

From my point of view I was supposed to go golfing around noonish when he got off. Then he said he was supposed to get off at 2 and then 2:30 which actually turned into 3. However, then he basically told me to leave my house at 4. Which, meant 4:30. So, 4 1/2 hours later we met up and didn't go golfing because it was too late for that. However, we already decided we should go go karting which we attempted to do weeks ago.

So, we finally get to the go kart place. K1 go karting and it was busy until 7, which is fine. I was kinda hungry anyways. However, he couldn't find his Groupon. His phone had to little memory and he couldn't download the app and for some reason he couldn't log in through the internet. So, we couldn't even do that.

In the end we just went to dinner and Ninja sushi which was amazing once again. I didn't take any pictures. We had the Torch Roll which is a special roll that isn't on the menu. They blow the top with a torch. We didn't get to see if though. If you want to do that then you can get the dragon roll, it comes to you on fire according to the waiter. We got another roll, but I don't recall what it was. It had a cucumber wrap instead of seaweed. It was very refreshing.

Lastly, we also had some saki bombs. We didn't do them the obnoxious way (where you put the shots on top of the glass with chopsticks and then bang the table). Well not on purpose and least. He accidentally dropped his in the glass when he was trying to not do it. I thought it was hilarious. All in all the dinner was pretty good.

It was such a nice day Monday that I finally got to put on shorts. It was a black on black on black kinda day. I was originally a little skeptical of it, but I ended up really liking it. I threw on black pants later and It was a little too much black for me, but it still looked pretty cute.

Stress Relief

Between school and work this quarter, I feel like I don't have a break. Which is weird because when I'm at school on the weekends, I don't think I do that much. But weekends are definitely used for street relief which is what I use them for. It's just time to relax and do what you enjoy. So, I've mostly been going out at night and just hanging out with friends.

So, the first weekend of the month. I had drill. I was super stressed because I had my midterms that same week, right after drill. I had zero time to study. It definitely didn't help that we went out bowling Saturday night to Cloverleaf in Fremont. However, when I get to stressed I just procrastinate more and cram at the very end. Which, wasn't a very good idea since all my midterms this quarter were absolutely horrible.

Anyways, when we went bowling I wore a super cute outfit. I just got these boyfriend jeans from American Eagle that I am in love with. They stretched out a little too much after wearing them twice though. So, i'm going to see what happens after I wash them for the first time.

Cardigan: Old Navy, recent
Tank Top: American Eagle, old
Boy Friend Jeans: American Eagle, recent
Converse: Old

I actually don't remember when I got this cardigan. It must of been over the summer. I just found it in my room back home the other day. It was only a dollar when I bought it. Such a steal. Its super comfy and goes perfectly with these jeans. Side note: I still haven't worn my new converse. I definitely need to work on that.

With boyfriend jeans, I feel like you have to pair it with something girlie to make it look cute or else you just look too much like a boy. At least that's the vibe I got. However, these are my first pair, so, I'll have to try it on with more things. I just noticed that if i wore something baggy, I really didn't like it. I wish you could see that these were boyfriend jeans better, but they still look cute.

It's finally starting to get warm. So, I pulled out my capris and didn't even need to wear a jacket to class. It was amazing. I'm not sure how much I like this outfit. I normally wear this shirt with my converse, but I think I actually like how the dark shirt clashes with the white sandals.

I also FINALLY got my eyebrows done. I only get them done in downtown Davis at Natural Nails and Spa. I went to this place back home once and they made them way to skinny. So, I'm terrified to try anywhere else now.  I'm so happy about them. They've never messed them up. I'm gonna be so sad when I have to find a new eyebrow place.

Went out Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Thursday night I finally went to mojito night this quarter. It was pretty fun. The strawberry mojito was hella good. The melon one was way to strong and did not taste good at all. We made the bartender add more water or something to it to make it more bearable, but it still wasn't even that good.

Friday Night I went out in Sacramento. I wanted a chill place like Farrington's but I couldn't really find one, at least online. I heard Bar West was pretty cool. So, we went there first to try it out. It was a nice chill bar, but there wasn't much to do except sit and talk and we really wanted to dance or play pool. I always get super tired when I'm just sitting and drinking. We tried a couple other bars, but I don't really remember what they were. After the first I was pretty tired and we couldn't find a place where we could dance without a cover. Actually, I don't think we could find a place in general. We actually took more pictures without the flash, but this one turned out the best since, you could see our faces better.

Saturday day, I finally got myself to go on a run. I started that new workout, but I really only did it on the first day. I'm having a really hard time finding a time to go to the gym everyday. It was so nice outside. I loved it. For me running is all mentally. I ran the whole amount that I wanted to, but it wasn't nearly as far as I thought it was. So, that was kind of a let down. Next time I'll have to run a little farther. I saw this interesting car while I was out running. Is it an old bus or delivery truck maybe? I really have no idea. What do you guys think.

Saturday night, Valentines Day I went up to Sonoma with one of my friends for my best friend's house party. It was alright. I didn't really know anyone, so, I felt a little awkward. It didn't help that after my first margarita my stomach didn't feel good at all. So, I didn't drink the rest of the night. We took zero pictures though. I also told her I wasn't going. So, that we could surprise her. It was a super anti-climatic surprise though. She saw us pull up and there was no way for me to get out of the car without alerting her that I was in there.

Sunday, was super nice and relaxing. I didn't do anything. I took a nice long nap, watched some tv and didn't do nearly as much homework as I probably should have. Granted I really only had to do my communications homework. Anyways, that's what I've been up too.

How have you guys been? What did you do for Valentines Day?

Forever Busy

Ever, since my last post I've been ridiculously busy, or at least it's felt that way. i just didn't have the energy to write any of my posts. I even took pictures and everything. I just couldn't will myself to do. So, I think a nice break was good, even though, I take one every weekend, but I guess I needed another one. My next post probably won't be until Monday though or Tuesday, depending on how busy/tired I am from Marine stuff this weekend.

Anyways, just a little recap of what I've been up to. I started a workout, I haven't been able to do it as often as they would like. You're supposed to do it 6 times a week, for me it more ends up being like twice a week, but its an improvement at least. Which reminds me, I should probably get to the gym today. i just have to go so late or early that it's hard to get there. Anyways, its a generally fitness workout, so, i do have to work in more cardio with it for my PFT. If you want to check it out it's the back to fit plan on You can find it here

Went to my internship last week and wore my last new outfit, well new to them, newish pieces to me. I'm not sure how much I liked the outfit, but I was really not trying to wear something I had worn before. Finally had to do that today though :(. That day i also tried a ham and swiss sandwich from La Bou, it's a little bakery & cafe place right by my internship. The sandwich was ok. I added avocado and they put a ton in it, so, that was really nice. However, something about it was just a little off, I think they add a sauce or something maybe. i also had a cup of clam chowder, no complaints there, it wasn't anything special from what I could tell.

I also went to Farrington's in concord again with one of my friends. We just played some pool. It was a nice laid back night. I took a picture on snap chat of our night, but I forgot to save one without the caption. The picture of me on the right is the outfit I wore out Friday night. Then I finally saw American Sniper it was so good. If you haven't seen it yet, you definitely should. It's not your typical war movie and for me it was nice in a way to get to see how it was for people deployed. Not that I would necessarily ever do what they did. Ok, it would be super rare for me to do what they did, but still it was nice to see from that perspective.

My friend at Sophia's
I'm not sure if I'm actually wearing shoes in this picture, it is possible I'm just wearing my black socks. Which, I recently got from Old Navy. I am absolutely in love with them. I never thought I would be, but I really want to get more. However, when I bought them they were on sale and super cheap, so, I'm hoping that happens again.

I hung out with my nephews for a little bit over the weekend as well. I saw them Friday before I hung out, but I really hung out with them on Saturday, just chilled out there house, it was nice and relaxing. On Tuesday my friends and I went to Sophia's for trivia night in Davis. It wasn't nearly as packed as the last time we went. We're pretty sure it's because it's midterm time again. All mine are next week, it's gonna be a stressful week until Wednesday. Then, hopefully it will be fun times until Finals, but it probably won't because I'll have tons of papers. Anyways, I hope you guys have been having a good week.

I provide lots of links in my posts, just so you guys can try what I go see whether, its a workout or food. Obviously, you can only try food at restaurants if you live close by, but the views I share about them are always my own. Just thought, I would let you know. I hope you're enjoying my blog.

How have you guys been doing? Any midterms or work projects stressing you out?
